Rosé Day Returns to the Central West End on May 4th

After a sell-out inaugural year, the wine festival that weaves through the Central West End returns in 2019 with the same goal: to raise a glass to a favorite summertime vino, and, more importantly, raise awareness for organizations improving quality of life for women and girls throughout St. Louis.

Hosted by a committee of community-minded women, and a few men -- it’s Rosé Day, a wine walk and neighborhood festival that’s billed as the only women’s festival in the state!  The event will take place on May 4th. Commemorative wine glass in hand, attendees will make their way to storefronts and side patios, rooftops and art galleries to sample variations of hand selected Rosé wines. At each pop-up tasting station, partnering non-profits will bring attention to the solution they offer for challenges facing women today. This fun-filled festival is more than just an excuse to sip wine and shop in the Central West End. It’s designed to bring light to the troubling fact that in the U.S., only four to seven percent of all institutional giving goes to organizations whose mission is of service to women and girls.

That’s a figure Lisa Picker, Executive Director of the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis, is committed to changing.

“In the St. Louis region, women with children make up the majority of people living in poverty. And yet, philanthropic investments are often not making it to the most vulnerable among us. We are committed to increasing giving for women and girls because we know that by investing in them, we are not only improving individual lives – we are creating a ripple effect throughout our community that will last for generations to come.”

This sentiment is shared by committee member and West End neighbor Carol Kyser.

“We know that too many women are struggling to find affordable housing, a good school for their children and access to quality healthcare,” said Kyser. “There are organizations right here in St. Louis that are filling the gaps, that are helping women find pathways out of a violent relationship or towards a new job opportunity. This is exactly what we’ll be recognizing on Rosé Day.”

Event tickets are on sale now at www.rosedaystl.com and include a walkable Rosé Day wine glass and a passport to wine, live music, fun activities -- like a photo-opp on the cover of a romance novel, a shotski of Rosé tequila, learn a basic self-defense move, visit the puppy kissing booth or get showered in bubbles!  The fun starts at noon and ends at six.
